Dr. Xu received the MSc in Measurement Technology and Instrumentation from the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China in 2010, and the PhD in Electrical Engineering from the Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e) in Jan. 2016.  From Jan. 2016 to Aug. 2019, he worked at the TU/e as a postdoc researcher. From Sep. 2019, Dr. Xu became an assistant professor and PhD supervisor at the ShanghaiTech University.

Dr. Xu’s research focuses on biomedical signal processing and its application in neuromuscular rehabilitation, ambulatory monitoring, and brain-computer interface. He has published more than fifty papers in prestigious journals and conferences, such as IEEE Trans Biomed Eng, J Neural Eng, IEEE Trans Neural Syst Rehabil Eng, IEEE Trans Instrum Meas, and IEEE EMBC, and won two Best Paper Awards. Dr. Xu is currently an Associate Editor for the IEEE Trans Instrum Meas, which is the number 1 journal in general I&M. He is also a senior member of the IEEE, a member of the ISEK, and a reviewer for several top journals.
