摘要:
Powering AI from Grid to Core.
Training of large models with an ever higher amount of parameters will dramatically change the way how datacenters are built and operated. We see a strong increase in power demand on every level from processor to rack to the entire datacenter. In this contribution we will share our views on future datacenter architectures and demonstrate solutions for all relevant power conversion stages from Grid to Core.
Semiconductor technologies enabling efficient and safe motion control in humanoid robotics: present and future.
Smart actuators have become central to advancing humanoid robots, bringing essential features such as efficiency, precision, compactness, and safety. Achieving human-like movement requires actuators addressing unique challenges, including stringent thermal management, high accuracy, and fast responsiveness.
Unlike industrial automation systems, humanoid robots operate in highly dynamic environments and must interact safely with humans in unstructured spaces. This presentation provides a comprehensive overview of smart actuator requirements for humanoids and examines technological advances enabling high-bandwidth and safe control systems.
A scalable motor drive platform utilizing the latest fully integrated gallium nitride (GaN) half-bridge solutions will be introduced alongside details on adopted sensing technology for currents and position.
A first glance in how safety requirements are shaping the industry and guide component selection and system topology as well as drive innovation in actuator design will be given.
A final outlook into the main trends affecting the evolution of actuators for humanoids will be provided.
报告人简介:
Gerald Deboy is an IEEE Senior Member and, as of April 2023, a Fellow at Infineon Technologies Austria AG in Villach, Austria, where he heads the System Innovation Group. He played a pivotal role in the development and commercialization of superjunction MOSFET technology—a breakthrough that overcame silicon’s long-standing tradeoff between on-state resistance and breakdown voltage in high-voltage power devices. Under his leadership, Infineon launched CoolMOS in 1998, the world’s first commercial superjunction product, which reduced power losses by up to fivefold and revolutionized energy efficiency in power electronics. This innovation, rooted in earlier patents by David Coe and advanced theoretically by Tatsuhiko Fujihira, has since enabled massive global energy savings—estimated at over 3.4 trillion kWh—in applications ranging from consumer electronics to electric vehicle charging. Deboy’s contributions have cemented superjunction technology as the industry standard in high-voltage switching converters and continue to drive progress in sustainable and efficient power systems worldwide.
With a strong background in power electronics, Maurizio joined Infineon serving as SAR in different applications to drive innovation in motor drives, with particular focus on GaN solutions. More recently he is focusing on humanoid robotics specifically on challenges and innovation of actuators in this application. In addition to his industry work, Maurizio has been teaching Power Electronics, Motor Drives, Industrial Electronics, and Control Engineering at university level. He has been also leading R&D teams in the development of cutting-edge projects, including Integrated Modular Motor Drives, GaN-based converters, and SiC-based inverters for UAVs co-authoring several tens of conference and journal papers in collaboration with industry and universities. The career of Maurizio has been always orbiting around power electronics in different fields among which renewable energies designing back-to-back inverters for large wind turbines, developing high-precision measurement systems and DC-DC power supplies for research in fundamental physics. In his free time, he loves playing guitar, reading, writing, practicing yoga and skiing.
