On the 8th of June, the Center for Advanced Power and Energy Systems (CAPES) hosted the first student colloquium. This event is open to the public and was held in the SIST auditorium.
The first talk was given by Xiaoying Xiao from the Power Electronics and Renewable Energy Laboratory (PEARL). The title of her talk is "A Multi-Objective Optimization Based Real-Time Control Strategy for Battery/Ultracapacitor Hybrid Energy Management Systems". In the talk, she shared her latest research on the optimization of PEV hybrid energy management systems. The talk is well received by professors and students. A group of undergraduates also attended this event.
The CAPES colloquium aims to enhance the knowledge about each other among different research groups, to brainstorm new research ideas, to train the students’ presentation skills, and to attract undergraduates to join CAPES. The technical talk was followed by a happy hour. Professors and students discussed freely and closely on their interested topics.
CAPES at ShanghaiTech aims to integrate the cutting edge technologies including distributed microgrid, smart grid, plug-in electric vehicle, internet of things, and big data; and to comprehensively optimize the whole process of power generation, energy storage, power distribution and utilization.
