SIST graduate students Shanbo Chu and Yanpeng Zhao won the second place in the just finished Sequence Prediction Challenge (SPICE). SPICE is a competition of predicting the next element in a sequence, hosted by International Conference on Grammatical Inference (ICGI). The challenge lasted for almost four months and there were about twenty participating teams from all over the world.
Shanbo Chu and Yanpeng Zhao are students from Prof. Kewei Tu's research group, which conducts research in machine learning, natural language processing, and artificial intelligence and has published several papers this year in top international conferences.
