SIST co-hold the “2015 Android Talents Workshop” with VIA

The 2015 Android Talents Workshop was held by SIST and VIA Technologies jointly on 27 May 2015. The Executive Dean of SIST Prof. Zhi Ding, Prof. Yang Yang, Prof. Hao Chen, Associate Prof. Xiliang Luo, Assistant Prof. Xiaojun Yuan and members of VIA Technologies attended the workshop. This workshop was broadcasted lively through network platforms KKTV and LIVE house.in for cross-strait audiences.

Based on the research focuses in communication of ShanghaiTech University, Prof. Ding first briefly introduced the school background and research directions of SIST professors. Prof. Ding emphasized that support from companies is essential for the development of SIST, while innovation of companies also requires novel research results. He pointed out that the school and companies together are facing the challenge to fill in the gap between industry and academic research. Porf. Yang Yang and other professors gave talks about researches related to VIA Technologies.

On the afternoon, the senior manager and the director of embedded system of VIA Technologies gave talks. Attendees of the workshop had deep communications about the prospects of the Android market in embedded systems, and bottlenecks met in technical developing.
