BIOGRAPHY

Cheng Wang is currently the Deputy director of Resource Management Committee.

Dr. Cheng Wang received the Ph.D. in Optoelectronics-Physics from Institut National des Sciences Appliquées de Rennes, France in 2015. During the Ph.D., he has researched with Télécom ParisTech, France, with Technische Universitat Berlin, Germany, and with Politecnico di Torino, Italy for two years. He was a Senior Research Assistant at the City University of Hong Kong from 2015 to 2016. In April 2016, he joined ShanghaiTech University as a tenure-track Assistant Professor, PI. His main research interests are modeling, characterization, and optimization of quantum structured semiconductor lasers including quantum dot lasers, quantum cascade lasers, and interband cascade lasers, as well as the applications in photonic integrated circuits, high-speed optical communications, and in optical neural networks. Up to 06/2021, Dr. Cheng Wang has published more than 40 journal papers and more than 50 conference papers. He leads several research projects from Natural Science Foundation of China, Shanghai Pujiang Program, and Shanghai Natural Science Foundation. He is a committee member in SPIE Photonics West and in ISPALD (2018).
