BIOGRAPHY

Yu Liu received the B.S. degree of Electrical Engineering and Automation from Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Shanghai, China, in 2011. He was a visiting scholar in Power System Control and Automation Lab, Georgia Institute of Technology, Atlanta, USA, in 2012. In 2013, he received the M.S. degree of Electrical Engineering from Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Shanghai, China and the M.S. degree of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) from Georgia Institute of Technology, Atlanta, USA. In 2017, he received the Ph.D. degree of Electrical Engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology, Atlanta, USA. In July 2017, Dr. Liu joined School of Information Science and Technology, ShanghaiTech University as an Assistant Professor, PI. The research of Dr. Liu focuses on power system protection, fault location, state/parameter estimation, and condition monitoring of power electronic systems, to enable more security and reliable operation of power systems with high penetration of renewables. Dr. Liu has published 57 peer-reviewed journal/conference papers (including 36 papers as the first/corresponding authors), and 2 book chapters. Dr. Liu was the recipient of Outstanding Faculty Award of ShanghaiTech University (2019), Excellent Teaching Award of SIST in ShanghaiTech University (2019), Best Paper Award of IET Renewable Power Generation Conference (2019), Best Paper Award of IEEE North American Power Symposium (2018), Shanghai Pujiang Talent (2018), Best Poster Award of PSERC IAB Meeting (2015), Stellar Scholarship of Georgia Tech (2011), and Shanghai Outstanding Graduates (2011). He also served as the Guest Editor for Journal of Modern Power Systems and Clean Energy (MPCE). He also served as session chairs in top conferences such as IEEE Power and Energy Society General Meeting (2020), IET Renewable Power Generation Conference (2019), and was invited to give technical presentations in panel sessions. He is the reviewer for top journals and conference such as IEEE Trans Power Delivery, IEEE Trans Power Systems, IEEE Trans Smart Grid, IEEE PESGM, and was the recipient of Excellent Reviewer for Protection and Control of Modern Power Systems (PCMPS) and Power System Protection and Control (in Chinese). Dr. Liu is the PI of many research projects funded by National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), Shanghai Municipal Education Commission, Shanghai Municipal Science and Technology Commission. He was also the reviewer of Shanghai Science and Technology Award, Shanghai Rising Star Talent Program, and Shanghai Sailing Talent Program.
