SIST students participated in the 14th ISCC competition

In August 14th this year, the 14th Information Security and Countermeasures Contest(ISCC2017) was held in Beijing Institute of Technology (BIT).

The competition, proposed by Professor Luo SenLin from BIT, originated in 2004,aiming at testing studentscapability of computer security, selecting talents and popularizing information security technology. In 2007, the competition was further acknowledged by Ministry of Education and Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.

It is the first time for ShanghaiTech University students to participate in this game. In the online part, 2016 undergraduate student Qin Qi performed excellently and became the fourth place out of thousands of participants, and therefore honorably won the ticket to the offline AWD (Attack With Defence) part for the school. Thereafter, our team, consisting of 2015 undergraduates Zhao Xiting and Cao Lingyun and 2016 undergraduate Jing Yuzhuo, performed well among the whole 20 groups and achieved the third prize. Various types of tasks like reverse, web, pwn, mobile, were included in this contest, basing on theoretical knowledge while also providing players with a fair platform for defending and attacking. In this competition, students can apply their knowledge into real-day practice and experience the charm of CTF (Capture The Flag) games.
