Openings for Postdoc/Research Assistant Professor

Our group is seeking two highly motivated postdoctoral research fellows or research-track professors wihch will report to PI for group to work on the following research projects:

1) Spintronics-based computing and memory systems, a joint work with another SIST faculty, Prof. Xufeng Kou (see

2) Optical-electrical hybrid on-chip Communication network, a joint work with another two SIST faculties, Prof. Baile Chen (see and Prof. Chen Wang (see

These two projects are generously funded by the Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) and Shanghai local government.


(1) Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering, computer science or related areas.
(2) Strong publication record in device/VLSI design/CAD/architecture, or related areas.
(3) Knowledge or experience on spintronics or optics will be given special consideration.
(4) Good communication skills and capability of supervising research students.
(5) Fluent in oral and written English.

Openings for Graduate Students

Each year our group seeks highly motivated students to fill a few openings for Ph.D. students, who can graduate with a Master degree if they fail the Ph.D. Qualify Exam or only want to do a Master.  

Ph.D. students in our group have opportunities to work on collaborative projects with top researchers in the world (for instance, we currently have joint work with Prof. Chenming Hu's group at UC Berkeley and Prof. Xin Li's group at Duke University), and also visit these groups for either a short or long term.

For those students who graduate with a master degree from our group, they can either 1) easily find an industrial job in the local area around ShanghaiTech with decent pay, or 2) join a research group in top institutes in USA to pursue their PhD degrees.

Applicants are expected to have strong background on at least part of the following aspects: programming skills and algorithm design, optimization theory, VLSI design and computer architecture. If interested, please send your resume to
