Power electronics topology and application of WBG device in medium voltage drive and medium voltage dc grid

Abstract:

The presentation will summarize the existing topologies used in the medium  voltage drive/medium voltage dc grid, as well as their pros cons, and introduce the newest topology that has been pandroposed in her research group. The challenges of using SiC mosfet in high power conversion and the newest technology developed in her group will be discussed as well.

Bio:

Qin Lei,currently an assistant professor of Arizona State University, got her Bachelor’s degree from Huazhong University of Science and Technology in 2006, and her Ph. D degree from Michigan State University, United States in 2012. From 2012 to 2015, she worked in General Electric Global Research Center as an Electric Engineer. From March 2015 to December 2016, she worked in ULC Robotics in New York as an senior Engineer. She joined ASU in January 2016. She has published 8 Ieee transaction papers and 30 conference papers, and filed four U.S patents. Her research focus is on power electronics in HVDC/MVDC, medium voltage drive, and application of Wide band gap device in high power conversion.
