Medical Internet of Things:From Biomedical Microdevices, System to AI

Nowadays, the market of network based family health management is undergoing a fast growth and predicted to be extremely huge in the near future. Medical Wearable and Micro-device can lead to a new strategy for family health management. Hereby, we introduce the related medical wearable and microdevice, which serve as a mini biochemical analyzer. The retrieved biophysical or biochemical information is transmitted to online personal health management center. Comparative study on reliability and accuracy between the medical micro-device and clinical biochemical analyzer shows good agreement. Taking account of rising concerns on daily healthcare, the proposed medical microdevice and wearable sensor holds great potentials in medical data acquisition for family based health management.


Dr. Jinhong Guo is currently a Professor with School of Communication and Information Engineering at University of Electronic Science and Technology of China, Chengdu, China.  Dr. Guo received a B.E. degree (2010) in Electronic Engineering from the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China and Ph. D. degree (2014) from Nanyang Technological University in Biomedical Engineering.  Dr. Guo was a postdoctoral fellow in the Pillar of Engineering Design at MIT-SUTD (Singapore from 2014 to 2015.  He then worked as a Visiting Professor in the School of Mechanical Engineering at University of Michigan, Ann Arbor from 2016 to the date.  Dr. Guo’s current research focuses on Electrochemical Sensor and lab-on-a-chip devices for Point of Care Test.  Dr. Guo is a recipient of the China Sichuan Thousand Talents Plan for Scholars Award (2015) and Chengdu Expert in Science and Technology Award (2015).  He is also appointed as Chief Scientist at Longmaster Information Co., Ltd (one listed corporation in China, stock ID: 300288), who is in charge of the research and development center for POCT. He has authored and co-authored over 70 publications in Biosensor and Bioelectronics, Analytical Chemistry, Advanced Energy Materials, Nanoscale, Electrophoresis, Microfluidics and Nanofluidics, Biomedical Microdevice, IEEE Transaction on Antenna and Propagation, IEEE Transaction on Microwave Theory and Techniques, IEEE Journal of Selected Topics in Quantum Electronics, IEEE Transaction on Biomedical Circuit and System, IEEE Transaction on Biomedical Engineering, IEEE Transaction on Emerging Topics and Computing, IEEE Transaction on Dielectrics and Insulation, IEEE Sensor Journal, IEEE Transaction on Electron Device, IEEE Transaction on Industrial Informatics, PLOS One etc. He is holding more than 20 technology disclosures and patents and is serving the guest editor of IEEE Transaction on Biomedical Circuit and System with special issue on Point of Care Diagnosis, lead guest editor of Micromachines with topics in Medical Internet of Things: From Biosensor Devices, System to Artificial Intelligence, guest editor of Biomedical Microdevices with special issue on Microfluidic Engineering for Biomedical Application. Pro. Jinhong also serve the conference chair of 2018 International Conference on Biomedical Information Perception and Microsystem.
