High Quality Hex Mesh Generation

Mesh is the most popular discretization method in many fields. What is a good mesh and how to get a good mesh are very basic problems. In this talk, I will briefly introduce some basic knowledge about them, and then focus on our progress of answering these two questions. First, we develop a very efficient method for estimating the condition number, the numerical stability indicator of a mesh. Then, we show how to address the key challenges in hex remeshing, the “holy grail” problem in remeshing, and finally discuss the possible future works.


Prof. Jin Huang got the Ph.D. degree in 2007 from Zhejiang University.He visited Caltech from 2012 to 2014, and was awarded Excellent Ph.D. thesis of China Computer Federation in 2008, as well as the NSFC Excellent Young Scholars Program in 2015. His research interests are mainly in the areas of geometry processing and physically based simulation. He has served as the PC (Program Committee) of SIGGRAPH, SIGGRAPH Asia, Eurographics, SGP, SCA etc. conferences, and the associated editor of CAGD, as well as the program co-chair of Geometric Modeling and Processing (GMP) 2016.
