Tenure-Track and Tenured Faculty Positions in Fog Computing

ShanghaiTech is founded as a world-class research university for training future generations of scientists, entrepreneurs, and technical leaders. Besides establishing and maintaining a world-class research profile, faculty candidates are also expected to contribute substantially to both graduate and undergraduate educations.

On January 16, 2017, following the election results from the board of OpenFog Consortium (OFC) directors, ShanghaiTech University was appointed as the Director for the Greater China Region (GCR). At this role, ShanghaiTech University is expected to lead and oversee the research, developing, testing, and standardizing efforts in GCR, including Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore, and mainland China, to accelerate the adoption of fog computing to solve the bandwidth, latency and communications challenges associated with the Internet of Things (IoT), Artificial Intelligence, Robotics, the Tactile Internet and other advanced concepts in the digitized world.

ShanghaiTech University invites highly qualified candidates to join our newly established Shanghai Institute of Fog Computing Technology (SHIFT), which is a joint lab between ShanghaiTech University and Shanghai Institute of Microsystem and Information Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, to lead the following research areas in fog computing and networks. 

-          Fog computing architecture and theory

-          Big data processing in fog computing

-          Security in fog computing

-          Low-power sensors for fog computing

-          Fog computing for Internet-of-Things (IoT)

-          Next-generation communication with fog computing

-          Fog computing test-beds

-          etc.


- Strong research productivity and demonstrated potentials;
- Ph.D. (Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Statistics, Applied Math, or related field);
- A minimum relevant (including PhD) research experience of 4 years.

Compensation and Benefits:

Salary and startup funds are highly competitive, commensurate with experience and academic accomplishment. We also offer a comprehensive benefit package to employees and eligible dependents, including on-campus housing. All regular ShanghaiTech faculty members will join its new tenure-track system in accordance with international practice for progress evaluation and promotion.
