Abstract:

Is management scientific?

What are management scholars doing currently?

Is management research useful?

What is behind the research result that is presented by a management scholar in media?

This seminar offers a basic understanding of management research and its methodology to the audience who are of diverse backgrounds, and aims to bridge different thinking and perspectives across disciplines.

Bio:

Dr. Jean Dai, assistant professor in School of Entrepreneurship and Management, got her bachelor degree in economics (2007), master and Ph.D. degree in management (2013) in School of Economics and Management, Tsinghua University. Her research interests are in leadership, organizational behavior, and Business & Society. She was a German Chancellor Fellow in 2008-2009 and sponsored to study women entrepreneurship. Her research proposal on anti-corruption mechanism won the 2009 Emerald/IACMR China Management Research Fund Award. Her current research is on the effects of individual difference (e.g., thinking styles) on leadership behavior and ethical decision-making.

Jean plays volleyball and loves Marathon (4h20’12’’, Beijing, 2012). She’s planning to attend two Marathon competitions in 2014.
