Multi-atlases based Label Propagation and its Usage in Medical Image Analysis and Computer Vision

Abstract:

Multi-atlases based label propagation is a hot research topic in both medical image analysis and computer vision. In this presentation, it will be shown how it can be applied to important clinical applications such as image guided radiation therapy and automatic disease staging as well as computer vision applications such as face recognition and facial expression recognition.

Bio:

Shu Liao received the B.Eng. degree (First Class Honors and Academic Achievement Awards) in computer engineering, the M.Phil. degree in computer science and engineering and the Ph.D. degree in computer science and engineering from The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology in 2005, 2007, and 2010 respectively. He was a postdoctoral research fellow in the Department of Radiology, Biomedical Research Imaging Center, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill from 2010 to 2012. Then he became a senior research scientist in Siemens Medical Solutions, US from 2013 to 2018. He received the Siemens You Answered Award for intelligent bone visualization and deep learning based automatic organ segmentation engine. He has published papers in premium medical image analysis and computer vision journals and conferences such as IEEE TMI, IEEE TPAMI and CVPR. He is currently R&D VP in united image intelligence (UII). His research interests include deep learning, medical image analysis, and computer vision.
