Charged systems in variable dielectric media

Abstract:

Effects of dielectric variations on ion interactions are many-body effects, which play important role in many soft matter, energy device, and biological systems at the nano/micro scale, but are with great challenges in theoretical and computational study. This talk will briefly summarize the progress of our group in the algorithm and simulations of dielectric particles in solvent, and then present the idea for core-shell structured particles with some details. We will also report our recent study in continuum modeling for electrostatic interactions in variable media, taking into account both correlation and variable dielectric effects in the free energy functional.
